These bathroom trends are going out of style

Some bathroom designs are timeless. Others can look dated. If you care about style and want to ensure that your décor does not become tired, then you need to track the trends as they go in and out of fashion.

What will never be in fashion are non-functional drainage systems. If you are planning to redecorate, maybe consider a CCTV drain survey Birmingham, as seen at wilkinson-env.co.uk/drainage-services-cctv-surveys-midlands/cctv-drain-surveys/birmingham/, to identify any issues.

Cold and minimalist

It is easy to slip over the line from calm to cold, especially with minimalist designs. All white bathrooms are falling out of favour, as are dull porcelain tiles and plain cabinets without detail.

Overmatching

Décor should be cohesive, but that does not mean that every surface needs the same colour and finish. Overmatching can feel clinical and lack personality.

Geometric patterns

An exception to the minimalist trend was the popularity of strong, geometric patterns of tiles. Now there is a push for more organic and variable designs.

Oversized showers

An overlarge shower does not necessarily signify luxury. It can create a cold, empty atmosphere. Scale it down, but add more colour, decoration and points of difference.

Excess technology

There appears to be a backlash to the increasing ubiquity of technology in everyday life. In the bathroom, computers and televisions are being removed and analogue relaxation is key.

Of course, you do not have to change your bathroom just because trends are evolving. What makes you happy is still the most important factor. Plus, an outdated trend can always come round again!
